UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Feb. 11 — Two locals from the Kupiansk district walked over 10 hours to get to the police checkpoint from Podoly village in the Kupiansk outskirts, reported the Luhansk regional police.

Late at night, a 52-year-old man and his 57-year-old neighbor walked to a checkpoint near Kupiansk, where police officers from the Luhansk region were on duty together with their colleagues from the Kupiansk district.

People decided to walk on their own because of constant Russian attacks on their village. They reached the police checkpoint tired and cold. Police officers gave them a place to warm up and rest. Then, police evacuated them to a safer settlement.

On Dec. 12, 2025, Ukraine launched a successful counteroffensive in Kupiansk, pushing Russian troops out of the northwestern part of the city and trapping remaining Russian soldiers in its center.

However, Russians continue to attack settlements in the Kupiansk district. On Feb. 10, Russian attacks injured two women aged 58 and 87 years old and damaged houses in Odradne village of the Kupiansk district.
