Today, on February 16, Kharkiv paid tribute to Hero Hennadii Kovshyk. He died while performing a military mission in Donetsk Oblast.
Kharkiv’s residents recognized Hennadiy as a participant in all patriotic events in the city. He died at the frontline, where he went after the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“A retired civil aviation pilot, private entrepreneur, honorary donor, a principled Ukrainian-speaking patriot, Green Front activist who opposed deforestation in Gorky Park,” the Last Tribute Facebook group remembers him.
Hennadii Kovshyk actively participated in the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv and later joined the army in 2015.
He served in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade until the summer of 2021. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he went back to the frontline, first fighting in Kharkiv, then in Donetsk Oblast.
The hero died on the night of February 13 while performing his duties. His family will remember him as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Eternal glory to the fallen hero!
