UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jun 16 — Geolocated footage published on June 13 shows that Russians advanced southwest of Krasne Pershe village that’s located north of Kupiansk, and seized Ukraine’s positions on the right bank of the Oskil River, writes the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their June 15 assessment report

Krasne Pershe is a village to the northeast of Dvorichna where, according to Ukrainian forces, Russian troops face a “kill zone” — Russian sources claim it to be occupied; DeepState war monitoring project marks it as mostly occupied as well since June 12.

Russian efforts in the northern part of the Kupiansk axis were focused on crossing the Oskil River and getting deeper into the west of Kharkiv Oblast. Currently, Ukraine’s military says they destroy Russian attempts to transfer heavy equipment across the river, which is necessary for [them] to become “a real threat to Kupiansk.”

Kupiansk, a logistic and railway hub that Russia has already occupied in 2022 for over six months, has faced an increased danger of reoccupation since September 2024, when a Russian assault group managed to reach the outskirts of the city.

At the end of May, local authorities reported Kupiansk to be 90% destroyed because of relentless Russian attacks.

The ISW also writes about Russian troops’ confirmed advances north of Sumy Oblast and near Siversk, Chasiv Yar, and Toretsk.

Gwara Media couldn’t independently verify the positions of Russian forces on the Kupiansk axis.
