In photos: Russia launches missile strike at Kharkiv, injures 23 people

UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Nov 25 — Around 8:30 a.m., the Russian military attacked the center of Kharkiv with, according to preliminary reports, an S-400 missile, injuring 23 people, local authorities report.

“Morning when Russians once again conducted an act of terrorism against the civilian population,” said Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv mayor. “[They damaged] the Kyivskyi district’s center of provisions and administrative services, of course, there were people there. This is another cynical, precise Russian strike.”

Russians hit the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. A fire broke out in the aftermath of one of the central streets of the city, rescuers came to put out the fire and sort out of the debris left from the explosion. 

The reports from authorities say that, among the injured, five people are in surgery, two people are getting neurosurgical treatment, and five are staying in the hospital.

“That’s the fourth or fifth hit here. Here, look, I got scratched. But we keep working; what can we do? I came to work at 8:00 a.m., right before the attack. At the moment of the attack, our windows were boarded up, so the debris [from them blew out] my teeth, too. I am alive,” Volodymyr, one of the workers from the damaged buildings, said. 

Mayor Terekhov also added that, after the hit, the power disappeared in parts of the city, but it was restored almost instantly. According to him, in the buildings that got damaged, communications have broken down, but municipal services are already working on this problem.
