A repair hub for Leopard tanks has been launched in the Polish city of Gliwice. The first tanks have already arrived from Ukraine to the Bumar-Ląbędy plant.
Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak announced this.
In April 2023, during one of the meetings of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the Rammstein format, the head of the Polish defense ministry signed an agreement with his German counterpart to establish a service center for the entire family of Leopard 2 tanks at Bumar-Labędy.
The Defense Minister reminded that soon, Ukraine would receive two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks in the 2A4 and 2A6 versions, which will also be serviced and repaired at the same plant.
Mariusz Blaszczak added that the employees’ experience will be utilized, and the company has excellent development opportunities.
“T-72 tanks are also being modernized here at the Bumar-Ląbędy plant. The tanks donated to Ukraine are working perfectly well there (on the battlefield – ed.), as the Ukrainian military have told us. This is thanks to the experienced staff of the company that modernizes these tanks,” the Polish Minister of National Defense emphasized.
