UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Nov 1 — Over the past two weeks, more than 2,100 people, including 145 children, have been evacuated from the Kupiansk and Izium areas, Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor reported on October 30.
More than 150 of the evacuated people have limited mobility, he said. Syniehubov also noted that more than 300 people have been resettled in 15 temporary places of residence.
Kupiansk district has remained an area that Russians shelled very densely for several weeks now, killing and injuring civilians. It is also often impossible to provide electricity, heating, and humanitarian aid there, especially in settlements on the left bank of the Oskil River.
“Preparations are underway for additional facilities [accommodations — ed] in student dormitories that were previously closed down. Cooperation with the heads of educational institutions allowed us to open five new [such] facilities,” Syniehubov said.
Russians intensified their offensive on the Kupiansk axis during this summer, trying to capture the remainder of Luhansk Oblast and reoccupy Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, important logistics hubs for the region.
