UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 30 — Russian troops advanced in the area of Ambarne village, 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Velykyi Burluk, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW)  said in its daily assessment from Sep. 28.

Velykyi Burluk is a village in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast. Russia started its offensive in this direction at the start of July, occupying Milove, one kilometer (0.6 miles) from the Russian border, and gradually expanding its foothold in the area of Ambarne village.

Gwara’s source in the intelligence unit anonymously added that Russian troops are likely planning to disrupt Ukraine’s logistics between the area of that incursion and the northern flank of Kupiansk axis (north of Dvorichna).

Analysts of DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, noted that these operations are intended to support Russia’s offensive on the western bank of the Oskil River.

ISW analysts said that if Russian forces seize Velykyi Burluk, they could gain the ability to attack Ukrainian rear positions on the Vovchansk and Dvorichna directions, posing a serious challenge to Ukraine’s defensive efforts.

ISW also reported no Russian advances in the Kupiansk and Borova areas on Sep.30.
