UKRAINE, VOVCHANSK, Aug 25 — Russian troops advanced in central Vovchansk, reports the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their latest assessment, based on geolocation data.

Vovhcansk, a city to the north of Kharkiv, was one of the targets of the Russian ground offensive from the north that was launched in May 2024.

Currently, the city is almost completely destroyed by Russian attacks. Ukraine’s army is fighting to prevent Russia from advancing beyond the Vovcha river

Today, General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on seven attacks on Ukraine’s positions near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Ambarne and towards Kolodiazne and Kutkivka in the northeast of the region. Four combat clashes are ongoing right now, the military says.

Previously, Ukraine’s military reported that Russians can’t occupy the city and their tanks can’t get close because of Ukrainian first-person view (FPV) drones.
