UKRAINE, KYIV, Dec. 6 — On Dec. 6, friends, people she served with, and relatives came to bid farewell to Lana Chornohorska, call sign Sati, a soldier in the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (UDA), reported Suspilne Ukraine.

The ceremony took place at the crematorium of Baikove Cemetery, one of the largest and most historic cemeteries in Kyiv.

Chornohorska was born in Zaporizhia, studied in Dnipro, and lived in various cities across Ukraine, but she especially loved Kharkiv, which she called her hometown.

Chornohorska began her professional career in Kharkiv, which is why she considered herself a Kharkiv local, said Lyuk, local media, where Sati worked before joining the military.

Sati joined the UDA in 2024. Before that, she completed extensive training to learn how to operate drones, as she told the podcast “Vona. Viina” (“She. War”) for Nakypilo, the Kharkiv media outlet.

“Lana Chornyhorska went from being a volunteer to a UAV operator. She was not only a soldier, but also a bright cultural figure — a person with an active life position who inspired others with her honesty and dedication to the work,” said the UDA Unmanned Aviation Service.

On January 1, the Russian drone killed Chornohorska during her combat mission in southern Ukraine.
