UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Dec. 2 — In 2025, Russian forces increased the usage of glide bombs, said the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, the Russian army used over 3,500 glide bombs against Ukrainian positions in the frontline area over November.

The Ministry called October the “hottest” month with the number of glide bombs the Russians used. They recorded 5,328 glide bomb attacks that month.

In 2024, Russian aviation used almost 40,000 glide bombs, an average of 109 bombs per day.

In 2025, they launched almost 44,000 glide bombs in 11 months, an average of 130 bombs per day.

On Oct. 20, Russians used a glide bomb with a control and correction module powered by a jet engine for the first time to attack the Poltava region.

This bomb is faster than other modifications that don’t have a jet engine and can reach distances of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles).
