UKRAINE, Jan. 7 — In Dec. 2025, the special forces of the Bratstvo (Brotherhood in eng.) unit raided deep into the Russian-held territory in the Zaporizhzhia region, and took Russian POWs, reported Ukraine’s intelligence agency (HUR).
HUR said that during the combat operation, the Bratstvo personnel killed two Russian soldiers, injured two others, and captured two more.
After that, Bratstvo soldiers carried out a complex, lengthy escort of the Russian prisoners, covering about 27 kilometres, and brought them to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
HUR also added that Russian POWs provided valuable information on the locations of Russian military officers and positions of artillery and drone units.
Kyrylo Budanov, former chief of HUR and the head of the Presidential Office, awarded Bratstvo soldiers with state and departmental awards following the operation.
UPD: The headline was changed from “Bratstvo unit takes Russian POWs deep in rear areas, Ukraine’s intelligence agency says” to “Ukrainian special forces capture Russian POWs far behind frontlines, intelligence agency says” for clarification.
