UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jan. 15 — The Russian army was trying to break through positions of the border brigade “Hart” that defends the state border in Kharkiv oblast, reported the State Border Service of Ukraine. 

According to the border guards, infantry groups of the Russian army, supported by artillery and drones, were trying to seize forward positions of Ukraine’s military and move deeper into the country’s territory. 

“The enemy doesn’t abandon their aggressive intentions and searches for areas where they can expand the warzone,” the border service said. 

They added that aerial reconnaissance units detected the movements of Russian troops and the buildup of their forces, after which they were targeted with all the firepower available to the border guards. Border guards say that, during the defensive combat, Ukrainian troops killed 21 soldiers and injured 11.
