SPAIN, BARCELONA, Nov. 18 — On Nov. 4, Barcelona mayor Jaume Collboni and Kharkiv’s mayor Ihor Terekhov signed a declaration of intent between the two cities to help the Ukrainian city restore its public services, said the Kharkiv City Council.
Mariam Satuieva, the press secretary of the Kharkiv mayor, explained to Gwara Media that this is the document that provides a basis for cooperation in various areas of the city, including smart technologies, city regulation, energy, transportation, education, support for children, and others.
Satuieva noted that this is de facto the same level of cooperation as sister cities.
During the national telethon, Terekhov said that Barcelona is providing significant assistance to Kharkiv, for example, by offering public transportation. “We have also agreed on the supply of medical equipment and the possibility for our children to spend their summer holidays and receive treatment in Barcelona,” said Terekhov.
On Nov. 19, Russian forces launched 19 Geran-2 drones at three districts of the city, injuring 46 people, including children.
